The Mirror understands that David De Gea is set to be given a fresh chance at Manchester United, even if he decides against signing a new contract with the club.
The Spain international was strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid during the recently closed transfer window though a deal failed to materialise.
Louis van Gaal has left the goalkeeper out of each of the clubs six games so far this season, with the United manager opting for summer signing Sergio Romero in his starting line-up and twenty-two year old Sam Johnstone on the bench.
However, with the window now shut all parties are looking forward and De Gea, who has been included in United’s Champions League squad alongside Romero and Johnstone, could feature against Liverpool a week on Saturday.
The 2012/13 Premier League champions currently sit in fifth place and can be backed at 1/3 to finish in the top four.
