De Gea set to sign new United deal

David De Gea is set to snub a return to Spain and sign a new contract with Manchester United, according to the Metro.

The goalkeeper, who was named in this season’s PFA Premier League Team of the Year, has been strongly linked with a move to European Champions Real Madrid, who are in search of a long term replacement for club captain Iker Casilias.

However the 24 year old is set to remain at Old Trafford until June 2017, with a £200,000 per week contract ready and waiting.
De Gea has played every minute of every game for United so far this campaign, taking his United appearance tally to one hundred and seventy-three games in four seasons.

Louis van Gaal’s side lost West Bromwich Albion at the weekend – their third straight league defeat – but are still in pole position to finish in the top four ahead of Saturday’s trip to Crystal Palace.
