Villarreal midfielder Jonathan de Guzman is considering a move back to the Eredivisie after limited chances in Spain.
The former Netherlands Under-21 international was signed for 8.5 million euros from Mallorca last summer, but has struggled to establish himself in the first team.
“Since January I have not seen any football action,” De Guzman told NUSport.
“The last two games under previous coach Jose Molina, I was not even considered for selection.
“Now we are with Miguel Angel Lotina, our third coach of the season, and he does not know me yet.”
The former Feyenoord man said he was unhappy with his lack of match action and that he is pondering a return to the Eredivisie.
“I’m longing for playing time,” he said.
“On the one hand, I think it is too early to come back to Netherlands, but on the other hand, if I do well, I might be noticed more by the Dutch national team coach.”
De Guzman is yet to make his senior debut for his country but he has Under-21 and Under-23 honours.
