De Jong coy on Ajax interest

Borussia M’gladbach striker Luuk de Jong has admitted that he is pondering a January move away from Borussia Park.

The 23-year-old has struggled to make an impact since arriving from Twente in the summer of 2012, and his status at the club further worsened following the arrival of Max Kruse.

Having failed to start a single Bundesliga match this season, De Jong is being linked with a move away from the club, with Eredivisie giants Ajax reportedly leading the chase.

“I haven’t spoken with anyone from Gladbach about my future,” De Jong confessed to Voetbal International.

“Ajax? I’ve heard this so many times this year. At this moment, I am not thinking about other clubs.”

The Dutch striker then hinted that he would be leaving the club in the winter, but virtually ruled out a return to Eredivisie.

“Only in the winter will I think about what is best. The difference between Eredivisie and Bundesliga is very big, so it would be a step backwards.”

Since joining the club from Twente De Jong has scored mere 6 goals in 31 league appearances and it appears the club chiefs are losing patience with him.

Meanwhile, Borussia are enjoying a lot of success of late and having won their last three matches, die Fohlen are 3/1 for a top 4 finish in Bundesliga.
