AC Milan defender Nigel de Jong has revealed that he has yet to make a decision on his future as his contract at San Siro draws to a close.
The highly rated footballer will be a free agent at the end of the season and he has not been offered a new contract from the Rossoneri.
There will be quite a few top European sides ready to join the race for his signature if De Jong decides to leave AC Milan, but the Netherlands star is still considering his options.
“I haven’t decided yet and I don’t know when I will make that decision,” De Jong told NUsport.
“It could be at the end of April or at the end of the season. First of all I want to figure out what Milan’s plans are to get back to being the great club of the past.
“I never read Italian papers or watch their television, as everyone can write and say what they like. I am concentrated on the field and doing my best for the rest of the season.
“It’s still too early to say where I’ll be playing next term. It could be Milan, Ajax or another club. There are several options, as I will be a free agent. I’ll take a little time so that I can make the best decision.”
Nigel de Jong, 30, has been an important player for AC Milan ever since he arrived from Manchester City some three years ago, scoring 5 goals in 64 Serie A appearances.
Chances are the experienced midfielder is waiting to see how the current season pans out before he decides whether he will be staying with the Rossoneri beyond the summer.
