According to Mundo Deportivo, Frenkie de Jong is expected to join Barcelona next summer for $50 million. The youngster has been linked with a move to the Spanish giants throughout the entirety of the summer transfer window, and it finally seems as if we’re close to a deal being agreed on – but the move won’t go through until next year. de Jong burst onto the scene last year when he played a major role in helping Ajax to the Europa League final, and he’s only continued to grow since then.
Alas, there could well be another twist in the tail as there always tends to be with transfers of this magnitude, with two other clubs being said to be interested. The teams in question are Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur, and according to the report, both clubs could aim to outbid Barca in an attempt to lure de Jong away from the team that he’s had his eye on for a while.
