Borussia M’Gladbach striker Luuk de Jong has confirmed reports that he is likely to leave the club by the end of the month.
And while his side are enjoying an excellent season, having finished the first part of the campaign in third place, the Dutch forward has endured some tough times.
De Jong may have made 13 Bundesliga appearances this season, but having spent mere 72 minutes on the pitch in total, he is desperate to quit die Fohlen in search of first team football.
He has admitted that he doesn’t see his status at the club improving as long as Lucien Favre is at the helm.
“The coach does not give me the feeling that he continues to seriously count on me,” De Jong told Bild. “He does not talk much to me. It was a half a season to forget.
”I can imagine it, to leave. The coach is also unlikely to change much in the second part of the season.”
De Jong is reportedly on the radar of Premier League side Newcastle, but it remains to be seen whether the Magpies will step up their interest by the end of January.
The St James’ Park outfit have been quite impressive this term and they are 12/1 for a top 6 finish.
