De Jong nears AC Milan exit

La Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that Dutch midfielder Nigel de Jong is very close to leaving AC Milan at the end of the season.

The highly rated footballer has just a couple of months left on his current deal and while the Rossoneri hope to persuade him to stay, that may not be possible.

Namely, De Jong’s agents have been unable to reach an agreement over a new contract and with AC Milan still struggling, the experienced midfielder may decide to explore other avenues.

The Netherlands star has a long list of admirers in English Premier League and a lucrative proposal from England could help him make up his mind.

De Jong, 30, joined AC Milan from Manchester City three years ago and has since scored 6 goals in 66 Serie A outings.

The Rossoneri remained in eighth position in the standings after the 1-1 draw with Sampdoria but they are 9/4 to defeat Inter in Derby della Madonnina next weekend.
