According to a report from Sport, Frenkie de Jong is now set to join Paris Saint-Germain – however, Spanish giants Barcelona are also said to be interested in making one final bid for the Dutchman. Just a few short months ago it seemed as if de Jong to the Nou Camp was a virtual certainty, but now, it appears as if the French champions are on the verge of beating Barca to the punch.
It is said to be a financial issue with PSG offering more money than Barcelona, but there are a few factors that lead Barca to believe they can still hijack the deal. One is the allure of playing alongside the legendary Lionel Messi, and the other is the well documented history of Dutch footballers finding success at the club.
At the age of 21 it really does depend on what Frenkie’s priorities are, but one thing is for sure, he’s almost certainly going to be leaving Ajax.
