Mathijs de Ligt will not make his decision about his destination this summer before the season with Ajax is over, according to Sport.
The 21-year-old defender has been linked most heavily with Barcelona, with different media outlets in Spain adamant and very loud about the Catalan club’s confidence of beating off all competition for his signature, despite the player himself directly refusing to rule out moves to Juventus or Liverpool. He has also been linked with Bayern Munich, but latest reports claimed that the Bavarians have cooled their interest.
Sport claim that de Ligt’s priority in this matter is to link up with his current teammate Frenkie de Jong, who is set to move to the Camp Nou in the summer, and it appears that most of their stance that Barcelona are at the fron of the queue stems from that assumption.
However, the player still hasn’t made his decision and he will not do so before he finishes the season with Ajax, as he intends to stay fully focused on the present through the upcoming season finale.
