Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi has revealed his admiration for English football, ranking it above the Italian leagues in terms of interest.
After a number of impressive performances during Euro 2012, including two as a makeshift centre-back in a 3-5-2 formation, the Italian stalwart has become the subject of renewed English Premier League transfer speculation.
Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is said to be fond of the 28-year-old, who admitted he had received offers in the past from top flight English clubs.
“I have received many offers from English football,” De Rossi told reporters. “And I must say that I feel attraction for it.
“I like English football very much. I think now it’s probably more interesting than Italian football.
“There are lots of outstanding and talented players, as is the case for Spain as well.”
The Rome-born midfielder has played almost 300 games for his hometown club, and has won 75 caps for the national side.
