De Rossi nears MLS switch

Il Corriere dello Sport understands that AS Roma star Daniele De Rossi could be moving to the United States at the end of the season.

The highly rated midfielder has so far resisted temptation to leave Stadio Olimpico despite offers from Manchester United and Real Madrid, but it appears he is ready to search for a new challenge.

Namely, De Rossi is no longer considered an indispensable member of the squad and he has been left out of the starting line-up quite frequently by coach Rudi Garcia.

In case the 31-year-old decides to leave his boyhood club, Major League Soccer is likely to be his next destination.

Both Toronto FC and Orlando City are reportedly keen on his services, but the latest reports suggest that New York City FC lead the chase at the moment.

The Italy international has a contract until June 2016 at Stadio Olimpico, and nobody will be surprised if he finally quits Roma after a truly difficult season.
