Debuchy denied Manchester United switch

Mathieu Debuchy has revealed that Arsene Wenger blocked an approach from Manchester United for his services, according to the Mirror.

The France international left the Emirates Stadium last month, returning to his home country to join Ligue 1 side St Etienne on a deal that runs until the end of the 2017/18 campaign.

During his time with the Gunners, the thirty-two year old has racked up just thirty appearances in all competitions in three-and-a-half years, scoring two goals while he spent the second half of the 2015/16 campaign on loan at Bordeaux.

He is already of the mark for his new club after scoring on his debut – Saturday’s 2-0 win at Amiens.

Internationally, Debuchy has been capped twenty-seven times for his country, scoring two goals while he played at the 2012 European Championships in Poland and Ukraine and also the World Cup finals in Brazil two years later.
