Lille full-back Mathieu Debuchy has revealed his desire to join a Premier League club in the near future.
The France international has seen his name linked with a number of high-profile sides following yet another successful season at Stade Lille Metropole.
Les Dogues could find it hard to keep hold of their prized asset amidst heavy interest from abroad, and the player himself believes he is ready for a next step in his career.
“I would really like to, why not, go and see what it is like to play for a club abroad,” Debuchy told reporters after France recorded a 3-2 victory over Iceland.
The 26-year-old explained that he would like to continue his career in English Premier League.
“Other leagues please me as well, but I really like the English style. However, I don’t know any more than that, I haven’t discussed anything with my club.”
Debuchy is currently preparing for the European Championship with France and he looks set to be preferred to Lyon’s Anthony Reveillere at right-back.
The full-back, who has spent his entire career at Lille, has scored 5 goals in 32 Ligue 1 games this season and it is highly unlikely the club chiefs will stand in his way should the right offer come along.
