December 11th: Wednesday’s Champions League Double – 5/1 Special, Betting Tips & Predictions

As Arsenal and Manchester City turn their attention back to Champions League action, we have nine European showdowns on the cards throughout Wednesday night.

On a midweek European schedule that is highlighted by Barcelona’s trip to Borussia Dortmund, we have some heavyweight battles on the cards.

With plenty of eye-catching Champions League contests from across the continent, we have taken a look at some of Wednesday’s most appealing European betting markets.

17:45 Atletico Madrid vs Slovan Bratislava

While Atletico Madrid might have shown some real inconstancies when opening up the new campaign, Diego Simeone’s men have come roaring back in a sensational fashion. Eventually dragging themselves to a remarkable 4-3 victory against Sevilla last weekend, the Spanish giants are enjoying what has become a real purple patch. Last seen in Champions League action storming their way to a dominant 6-0 win away at Sparta Prague, Wednesday’s hosts have won each of their previous nine appearances across all competitions. Extending on their Copa del Rey adventure last week as they claimed a 3-1 victory against Cacereno, Atletico have gained a reputation for their action-packed performances. Including a famous 2-1 victory away at PSG on November 6th, Atletico have notched 27 goals on their nine-match winning run across all fronts. Despite falling to a shock 3-1 win when they welcomed Lille to the Spanish capital on October 23rd, Simeone’s side are rightfully pencilled in as a landslide contender here.

Eventually falling to what was a frantic 3-2 loss at home against AC Milan last month, Slovan Bratislava find themselves at the heart of a real Champions League struggle. Getting their European adventure underway with an infamous performance in Glasgow as they suffered a 5-1 defeat at the hands of Celtic, Wednesday’s guests have lost each of their first five appearances and have drastically struggled to find any kind of boost. Losing those five consecutive Champions League appearances by an aggregate score of 18-4, the Slovakian giants have certainly gained an unwanted reputation for their defensive issues. Failing to find any kind of momentum last weekend as they suffered a shock 2-1 loss against Zilina while in domestic action, Bratislava have another heavyweight challenge on their hands here. It should also be noted, Vladimir Weiss’ squad have shipped seven goals in their first two European away fixtures.

20:00 Arsenal vs Monaco

Watching their Premier League title ambitions take another dent over the weekend, Arsenal will have to dust themselves down quickly. Eventually forced to settle for a 1-1 stalemate away at Fulham, Mikel Arteta’s side missed out on the chance to make up some crucial ground. However, collecting 13 points from their five appearances across all competitions since returning from November’s international break, Wednesday’s hosts will be excited to make a return to north London. Last seen in Champions League action putting in a thumping performance as they stormed their way to a 5-1 romp away at Sporting Lisbon, Arsenal will be seeking a repeat display in midweek. Signing off November with a thumping 5-2 win against West Ham, Arteta’s side have gained a reputation for their extended success at the Emirates. Including a 2-0 win against historic rivals Manchester United, the Gunners have not suffered a single defeat in front of their own supporters since the middle of April.

Securing what was a much-welcomed 2-0 victory at home against Toulouse last weekend, Monaco will be desperate to use that performance as a platform to build on. Although Wednesday’s guests might still be scrapping it out at the top of the Ligue 1 standings, Add Hutter’s men are seeking some recent stability. Opening December with a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Marseille, the former Eintracht Frankfurt boss will be bracing himself for a stern examination here. Suffering a major Champions League collapse last month as they fell to an action-packed 3-2 loss against Portuguese giants Benfica, Monaco know that defensive stability is key. Recording just a sole clean sheet from any of their last six appearances across all competitions, Hutter’s side are rightfully pencilled in as a real underdog here. It should also be noted, Monaco’s leaky defence have recorded just a sole clean sheet on their travels since the middle of September.
