While it might be the World Cup final that takes center stage on Sunday, we also have a host of interesting fixtures from across Europe. On that note, for those of you looking to place a Sunday acca, we have found a handful of helpful tips that are worth keeping an eye out for.
Sunday December 18th
BST 11:30 Luton vs Millwall
While Luton might have opened the 2022/23 campaign with their sights set on claiming another stunning play-off spot, Sunday’s hosts have shown some extended issues on either side of the World Cup’s winter break. Marking their return to action last weekend with a last-gasp 2-1 loss away at Middlesbrough, the Hatters have recorded just a single win from any of their last seven Championship contests. Freefalling their way out the top-half of the table, they also appear to be struggling since Nathan Jones’ departure from Kenilworth Road last month. Desperate to pick up a much-needed boost here, new boss Rob Edwards will also be hoping for his side to find some stability on home soil. Last seen in front of their own supporters playing out a 1-1 draw against Rotherham, Luton have now settled for a single point in four of their last five contests in Bedfordshire. As for Millwall, while the Lions might have also had a play-off spot at the top of their agenda this season, they too are also in the midst of their own recent wobble. Marking their return to Championship duties with a 1-1 draw at home against Wigan, Sunday’s guests have picked up just a single win from their previous six second-tier outings. However, it should be noted, with the two sides playing out an action-packed 2-2 draw when they last met back on April 2nd, we’re backing what could be another enjoyable affair.
Tip: Both teams to score @ 19/20
13:00 Albacete vs Ibiza
Managing to make a return to winning ways last weekend as they claimed a late 2-1 victory away at Las Palmas, Albacete will be desperate to lay down another marker on Sunday lunchtime. While Ruben Albes’ side might have only made their Segunda return this season, they have continued to impress many across Spain’s second-tier. Opening up their showdown at the Estadio Carlos Belmonte sat just three points adrift of breaking into the play-off places, the Whites should also be excited by their continued success on home soil. Despite being last seen in front of their own supporters playing out a 0-0 stalemate against Zaragoza, it should be noted that Albacete have lost just one of their last seven contests in Castile–La Mancha. Looking to claim back-to-back Segunda victories this weekend, Albes’ men should be looking to cash in on a struggling Ibiza squad. Eventually having to settle for a 1-1 draw at home against fellow relegation scrappers Malaga last weekend, Sunday’s guests find themselves sat rock-bottom of the table. Now tipped as the leading relegation contender this season, Lucas Alcaraz’s side have also recorded just a single second-tier win since way back on October 2nd. Likewise, gaining a real reputation for their struggles on the road, it’s worth highlighting that Ibiza have lost each of their previous four Segunda away fixtures by an aggregate score of 7-1.
Tip: Albacete win & Under 4.5 goals @ 1/1
19:45 Genoa vs Frosinone
While Frosinone might have been disappointed after playing out a stalemate in three of their last four Serie B matchups, Sunday’s guests should find the mood in their camp at a real high. Although Fabio Grosso’s men might have missed out on a play-off spot last season, the Canaries are now seen as a leading contender to secure a shock Serie A return this season. Opening up this weekend’s fixtures holding a four-point buffer over the chasing pack, the one-time Verona boss will be calling on his side to widen their advantage here. Continuing to shine with their defensive resolve and recording a clean sheet in four of their previous six outings, Frosinone are also unbeaten in each of their previous 10 straight appearances across all competitions. Likewise, last seen on the road claiming a thumping 3-0 romp against Reggina, Grosso’s side have taken a hugely impressive 13 points from their last five Serie B showdowns away from the Stadio Benito Stirpe. On the flip side, while Genoa might still be leading the chase in the play-off hunt, they are enduring a recent wobble. Last seen playing out a 0-0 stalemate away at Ascoli, Sunday’s hosts have now recorded just a single victory from any of their last seven attempts. With that extended blip stemming all the way back to October 22nd, the Liguria-based outfit have also won just one of their last four contests on home soil.
