Manchester City’s 20-year-old centre-back Dedryck Boyata will join Bolton Wanderers. The Belgian international reportedly snubbed both Blackburn Rovers and Everton in favour of the Whites. Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle had a rather cheeky response to the speculation that he was keen on keeping the club’s interest in Boyata private.
“I would imagine we will pursuing things quite vigorously in the next few days. At the end of the day, negotiations are always tricky between clubs.
“Don’t be kidded, if people think there are certain targets, that those are the only ones I’m after.
“I might well change or bring one in from left field that people aren’t aware of.
“I’ve a few irons in the fire – but my main aim is to get quality into this football club.”
Boyata has been a member of Manchester City’s first team squad since 2009. In his debut season for City, Boyata only appeared in seven games, three of which were in the Premier League. In 2010-11, Boyata was featured 16 times for the FA Cup winners, netting one goal in the process. After seeing his playing time increase last season, a loan spell is exactly what Boyata. In order to develop as a potential world-class defender, Boyata must get first team football next season and staying at City would not provide that opportunity. A loan move for Boyata would surely benefit all three parties.
Aquilani set for Italy return
With Liverpool set to bring Nacional and Uruguayan international Sebastian Coates to Anfield for a reported fee in the region of £8 million, Azzurri midfielder Alberto Aquilani has been subject to depart England for a move back to Italy. The Italian international has seemingly been out of favour since his arrival at Anfield, appearing in just 28 games in two seasons. He spent nearly all of last season on loan at Juventus where he bagged two goals in 34 games for the Italian giants.
The former Roma midfield maestro has reportedly selected AC Milan as his desired destination this summer. Since Liverpool have signed a plethora of midfield players this summer, Kenny Dalglish will surely be glad to get Aquilani off his payroll. With the likes of Steven Gerrard, Charlie Adam, Jordan Henderson, Jay Spearing, Lucas Leiva, Raul Meireles, and Maxi Rodriguez all above the Italian on the depth charts a move seems imminent.
Alberto Aquilani’s agent Franco Zavaglia is currently in Liverpool negotiating a deal for the midfielder’s transfer to the San Siro.
“I will remain here, in Liverpool, until I complete the transfer in favour of AC Milan.
“Aquilani has chosen and he wants AC Milan. We hope an agreement will be reached very soon.”
Aquilani’s deal, like Dedryck Boyata’s, will surely benefit all three parties involved. For this reason, a deal will surely be reached before the end of the summer transfer winfow.
