Fulham winger Ashkan Dejagah has revealed that he may have to quit Fulham in search of first team football.
The Iran international had nailed down a regular starting berth at Craven Cottage last term, but has been largely struggling for playing time this season.
Having made just two Premier League appearances this term, the 27-year-old fears the lack of regular first team football could hinder his chance of making Iran World Cup squad.
“It’s a big year for me,” Dejagah said to Fulham Chronicle. “It’s a dream to play in the World Cup and I have the chance to do that next summer, so it’s very important that I’m playing.
“The manager tells us every time that we have to be playing for our clubs because you need games to be sharp heading into the tournament.
“If you’re not playing you’re scared about your World Cup chances, so hopefully I’m fit and ready.”
Dejagah spent much of his career in German top flight, making a total of 157 Bundesliga appearances for Hertha and Wolfsburg.
The Iranian joined Fulham on transfer deadline day in the summer of 2012 and has since featured in 23 Premier League matches.
The Cottagers find themselves in all sorts of problems at the moment having slipped in the relegation zone after three straight defeats, but they are 11/5 to see off Swansea next weekend.
