(GSM) – Spain is one of the favourites to grab the World Cup title next year in South Africa but that doesn’t mean they don’t have a preference for their group composition. National coach Vicente Del Bosque hopes to avoid the Ivory Coast. “I do not want the Ivory Coast. From the pot with the South American and African teams they will provide the greatest challenge. But no team will be easy.”
“We’d like to face the Ivory Coast in a later stage of the tournament,” Del Bosque said on Friday. Since Spain is seeded for the World Cup draw, they have a big chance of ending up in a relatively easy group, just like their last two World Cups. “It would also be good to avoid France and Portugal,” Del Bosque looks ahead. “I suppose no-one will want to draw Spain either.”
Del Bosque doesn’t think there’s a strong favourite for the title. “Brazil, Argentina, France, England…anyone could win.”
