Juventus forward Alesandro Del Piero is on the verge of joining River Plate, Tuttosport understands.
The veteran forward is looking for a new challenge after spending last 19 years in Turin and he is determined to leave Italian Serie A.
The 37-year-old is thought to be interested in a move to MLS, but recent reports suggest he could be heading to South America instead of North America.
Del Piero earlier said that he would be glad to link up with David Trezeguet at River Plate and it seems the Argentine giants have taken the hint.
Tuttosport claims that River Plate have offered the star forward a contract worth €1.5 million per campaign.
Del Piero has asked for 72 hours to consider the offer, but it appears that he is ready to accept the opportunity to join the Argentine giants.
The Millionaires are set to return to the top flight after spending one season in the second division and they are keen to add Del Piero to their star-studded line-up.
David Trezeguet, Fernando Cavenaghi, Leonardo Ponzio and Alejandro Dominguez have all joined River this season.
