(GSM) – Fiorentina owner Andrea Della Valle reveals UEFA President Michel Platini agreed his team were hard done by.
Della Valle was, just like Fiorentina manager Cesare Prandelli, furious with referee Tom Henning Overbo and the linesman.
“I’ve never seen anything like it. I was in the stands with Platini and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. They too confessed the goal was offside and that it was a yellow not a red card for Massimo Gobbi.”
The 2-1 defeat at Bayern München was very hard to swallow for La Viola as Gobbi received a dubious red card while Miroslav Klose was only booked for his studs-on-ankle challenge and then scored a late goal that was clearly offside.
“But what’s it all for? What’s the point? We have to stay with the lads and reassure them,” added an angry Della Valle.
“We saw tonight what a great performance they put in and we can turn this around, but losing a game like this is horrible.
“I really can’t explain the linesman’s actions. Seeing it on the television footage is truly embarrassing.”
To make matters worse, Klose admitted his surprise that his goal was allowed to stand.
“I haven’t seen the replay, but it felt like I was offside.”
