Juventus boss Luigi Delneri has assured fans of the club he won’t be going anywhere at the close of the season.
Speculation has linked Napoli boss Walter Mazzarri with Delneri’s job, but the current manager says he will be staying in Turin next season, despite the fact that qualification for Europe next season is still in doubt.
“What are my chances of staying on the Juventus bench next season? 100 percent,” Delneri said in the build-up to Monday’s home clash against Chievo.
A win for Juventus would take them within three points of fourth place, which would secure them a spot in the Champions League qualification.
“They say we have an easier run-in than our other Champions League rivals and I hope that will prove to be the case. Before judging our campaign, everyone must wait until May 22,” he said.
“Lately we have found a good balance and the team did all it could, even if we’re still lacking something. We could’ve done better, but could also have done worse.”
“What was never lacking in this team was effort. If we win tomorrow night, then we’ll be within reach of fourth place.”
Delneri also confirmed that Felipe Melo would not play, after failing a fitness test on his left calf but Leonardo Bonucci is included in the squad, even though he sprained his ankle in training this week.
