Demichelis wants new City deal

The Mirror understands that Manchester City defender Martin Demichelis is eager to earn a new contract with the Premier League champions.

The Argentina international had an up and down start to life at the Etihad Stadium, but has impressed in recent months for both club and country.

He turned out three times for his country at this summer’s World Cup finals as the South Americans reached the final, while he has been an ever present under Manuel Pellegrini for City so far this season, scoring his first goal of the campaign with the late equaliser against Arsenal at the weekend.

In total, the 33 year old has made thirty-three appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring twice, and has winner’s medals in both the league and the League Cup.

Manchester City face Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena in their Champions League Group E opener on Wednesday evening.
