Hoffenheim’s Kerem Demirbay has signed a new deal to keep him at the German club until 2022, it has been confirmed via their official website.
The midfielder has been linked with a move to Liverpool as a potential replacement for Philippe Coutinho, as well as Arsenal with the future of Jack Wilshere still unresolved.
But the club and player have stepped in to dash all speculations as a new agreement has been set in place.
Since his move to Hoffenheim in 2016, Demirbay has steadily progressed, from a second-tier loanee to a key first-team player. He has so far made 43 Bundesliga appearances for the club and scored eight goals, and also earned two caps for Germany and scored one goal.
The 24-year-old sees something special going on at Hoffenheim. He is convinced there is a lot to yet be achieved there and he wants to be a part of it. He also pointed out that the support he got from the club during his recent spell on the sidelines was a key factor in his decision to put pen to paper.
