Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a deal to sell Clint Dempsey to MLS side Seattle Sounders, the Mirror understands.
Seattle’s west coast rivals LA Galaxy are understood to have also registered a late interest in the United States international, who only moved to White Hart Lane last summer.
In Nacer Chadli, Paulinho and Roberto Soldado, Spurs have added an array of forward thinking players to his squad, leaving Dempsey uncertain of a regular place in Andre Villas Boas’ starting line-up.
Dempsey, who scored twelve goals in forty-three appearances in all competitions last season, has flown to America rather than be part of Tottenham’s squad to face Monaco on Saturday.
The thirty year old spent two years in MLS with New England Revolution, where he made seventy-one appearances before moving to Fulham in 2006.
He turned out two-hundred and twenty-five times in six years with the Cottagers, before moving to London rivals Spurs last summer.
