Competition: World Cup qualifying
Market: Denmark win
Odds: 1/2 @ 888sport
Turning their attention back to World Cup qualifying duties on Wednesday night, Denmark will welcome Scotland to Venue Parken for their fourth Group F showdown.
Starting with the hosts, while Denmark might have been left heartbroken after their 2-1 extra-time defeat against England over the summer, Kasper Hjulmand’s side gained a host of plaudits. Overcoming Christian Eriksen’s distressing scenes from their opening European matchup, the Reds really rallied as they stormed their way to victories against the likes of Russia, Wales, and the Czech Republic. Turning their attention back to World Cup qualifying duties on Wednesday night in Copenhagen, Hjulmand should be boosted by what has been a string of eye-catching Group F performances. Last seen back in March laying down another real marker as they picked up a stellar 4-0 romp against Austria on foreign soil, Denmark have collected nine points from their three contests so far. Finding a way to build off of their remarkable 8-0 victory against Moldova, the Reds should be looking to put on a similar display in midweek.
As for the visitors, while Scotland might have managed to end their major tournament exile over the summer, the Tartan Army failed to make much of a mark. Despite hanging on to what was a gritty 0-0 stalemate against British rivals England, Steve Clarke’s side failed to land a European Championship victory and had to settle for bottom spot in Group D. Failing to build off of their immediate bounce after bringing in the former Kilmarnock boss, the Scots will know that they face another huge task when they travel to Copenhagen in midweek. Signing off their EURO 2020 run with a thumping 3-1 defeat at the hands of Croatia, it should also be noted that Wednesday’s guests hold a worrying qualifying record on the road. Including having to settle for a 1-1 draw away at Israel earlier in the year, we’re backing a home victory for the Group F high-flyers in midweek.
