Depay wanted to fight at Barcelona

According to a recent report from ESPN, Memphis Depay has revealed that he had the chance to leave Barcelona in the summer.

It’s safe to say that since making the transition over to Spanish football, Depay hasn’t quite had the kind of success he would’ve been hoping for. In equal measure, though, the Dutchman has also never been one to give up, with the report noting that he wanted to stay at the Nou Camp and fight for his place in the first team.

A return to the Premier League had been suggested previously but in a general sense, there are plenty of clubs across many leagues that we imagine would be interested in taking Depay on and seeing what he’s got left in the tank.

At the age of just 28, having already ‘been there and done that’ at a variety of clubs, it’ll be interesting to see how things go with Barca this season.
