(GSM) – Deportivo Quito jumped to the top of Group 5 in the Copa Libertadores thanks to a 2-1 win over Uruguay’s Cerro on Tuesday.
Both sides began the match with seven points from four games, sharing second place behind Brazil’s Internacional.
Quito drew first blood through Isaac Mina in the 20th minute but a converted penalty from Claudio Dadomo levelled the score just seven minutes later.
But the Ecuador outfit had the final say as Luis Checa netted the winning goal with four minutes left to play.
As such, Quito surpass Internacional for first place but the Brazilians still have Wednesday’s away game to Emelec in hand.
