Competition: Championship
Market: Derby win
Odds: 21/20 @ Bet 365
With the chance to move back into the playoff positions, Derby will host relegation contenders Millwall at Pride Park on Wednesday night.
Starting with Frank Lampard’s Derby side, while the Rams might have crashed out of the FA Cup over the weekend, Wednesday’s hosts will have their sights firmly set on a top-six finish. With the chance to once again leapfrog Bristol City to the final playoff positions, the former England midfielder will be most impressed by his sides’ performances at Pride Park. Led by Liverpool loanee Harry Wilson, Derby are unbeaten in their last six matches on home soil, a run that stems back to the middle of November. Also winning their last two matches at Pride Park, Lampard should be confident of extending their playoff push.
As for Neil Harris’ side, despite booking their spot in the quarterfinals of this year’s FA Cup, fans in South London are growing more concerned by their sides form in the Championship. Now without a league win since New Year’s Day, a six-match winless run, the Lions now hold just a two-point buffer from slipping into the relegation zone. It will be their form in the final third becoming the biggest concern for Harris. Wednesday’s visitors have now gone over 300 minutes without recording a Championship goal. Given the recent gulf in class between the two sides, we’re backing another tough evening for Millwall.
