Paris Saint-Germain can take advantage of Manchester City’s defensive frailties in their Champions League quarter-final, says former France star Marcel Desailly.
The Premier League side travel to Paris on Wednesday for the first leg of their last-eight clash with the Ligue 1 champions on the back of a 4-0 victory over AFC Bournemouth at the weekend.
However, that victory was only their second in the league since February 2, a run that has seen them fall out of the title race.
In the Champions League, Manuel Pellegrini’s side have conceded in all bar one of their matches this season – that clean sheet coming in their last European outing against Dynamo Kiev in the last-16.
And Desailly – a World Cup winner in 1998 – believes that could prove City’s downfall.
“When looking at Manchester City, we see a great strike force with an ability to hold the ball at times, but they have faults,” he told Le Figaro.
“Especially defensively, they are poorly protected by the rest of the team, the defence suffers too often.
“There is also often a feeling that Sergio Aguero is regularly the only point of attack. PSG shows a more consistent strike force.
“So, Paris [are favourites] based on more confidence and more experience than City.”
