Deschamps signs one year extension at Marseille

Olympique Marseille coach Didier Deschamps has signed a one year extension to his contract at the French club. The announcement comes days after newspaper reports linking Deschamps with the vacant manager’s post at English giants Liverpool FC. Deschamps is now contracted to L’OM till June 2012.

Deschamps arrived at Marseille in 2009 and guided the south east outfit to Ligue 1 glory in his first season at the club. Prior to Marseille, he also had coaching stints at AS Monaco and Juventus.

Deschamps also represented Marseille as a player. He played for them between 1989 and 1994 and was part of their famous Champions League winning squad of 1993.
