(GSM) – Desportivo Chaves are 90 minutes away from a major upset in the Portuguese Cup. On Tuesday, the first division side beat Naval 1º de Maio 1-0 in the first leg of the semi finals.
The match at Chaves’ Estadio Municipal appeared to go by without goals until Ricardo Rocha broke the deadlock in the 90th minute to give the hosts a vital advantage ahead of the second leg.
Desportivo Chaves play their football in the Liga de Honra, Portugal’s second level, and are only one spot away from the relegation zone in that league. As such, their performance in the Cup is all the more surprising.
The second leg will be played on April 13.
The winner of this tie faces the winner of the other semi final, Rio Ave or FC Porto. Those two play their first leg on Wednesday.
