Barcelona forward Gerard Deulofeu has revealed that he is eager to return to Camp Nou once his loan spell at Everton comes to an end.
The 19-year-old was loaned to the Toffees in the summer in an attempt to gain much needed first team experience and he has largely impressed in 15 Premier League appearances.
A hamstring injury seriously hindered his progress, but the youngster was, nonetheless, linked with a permanent switch to Goodison Park.
It appears Deulofeu won’t be staying at Everton beyond next summer after all, with the player hoping to prove his worth at Camp Nou.
“I am working every day to get back to Barcelona next season,” he told Radio Catalunya. “I watch all their matches and believe that they are having a good season.
“My dream is to find a place in the Barcelona attacking line-up and to do that I am progressing in the Premier League.
“I accepted the challenge last summer and I am happy with my decision. Now I am more mature as a person and as a footballer.
“Perhaps people at Barcelona do not have confidence in me, but that is normal. I am a young player and normally the coaches do not believe in the young players.”
Deulofeu has taken great advantage of every opportunity that presented itself this season, scoring 2 Premier League goals in the process.
While their top 4 bid appears to be effectively over, Everton look a good bet to achieve a top 6 finish at 8/11.
