Barcelona is stepping up their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund’s Ousmane Dembélé and reports have the Catalan team executives traveling to Germany to persuade the Frenchman to make the jump to Spain.
However, AS reports that the La Liga giants also have a contingency plan in case their search of Dembélé doesn’t return dividends and that comes in the form of PSG’s Angel Di Maria.
There was previous interest from Barça to lure the 29-year-old Argentine as a possible replacement for Neymar had he left Catalonia.
Now that Ney’s transfer is a done deal, the Blaugrana have reopened talks with Di Maria as they believe that, should the Dembélé talks stall, the ex-Real Madrid star would be an optimal replacement on the left side.
With Barça linked to so many transfers, with Dembélé, Philippe Coutinho, Paulo Dybala and now Di Maria on their list, it will be interesting to see how Barcelona lines up once the transfer window has closed.
