Angel Di Maria has promised Real Madrid fans that this year’s La Liga title will be followed by more silverware in the coming years.
Real beat Athletic Bilbao 3-0 on Wednesday to dethrone Barcelona as Spanish champions, and the former Benfica star has now set his sights on helping Jose Mourinho’s men to Champions League glory.
The Bernabeu side were eliminated by Bayern Munich in the semi-finals of the competition this season, but Di Maria is determined to do better in the future.
“I am very happy with my first Spanish league title, but there’s much more to come,” he said.
“I hope we win more titles every year and I hope one of them will be the Champions League.”
“I want the fans to enjoy this as much as we do. I’m sure we’ll make them even happier in the future.”
Real Madrid resume La Liga action on Saturday when they take on Granada.
