Angel Di Maria is set to leave Juventus at the end of the season, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via AS). Apparently, the Argentinian veteran winger has his “suitcase packed”.
The 34-year-old joined the Old Lady this summer as a free agent, following the expiration of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain. He signed a one-year deal to play for the Serie A giants, and it seems it has already been decided that there will be no extension as the club seeks to cut its wage bill down.
Di Maria’s time in Turin hasn’t gotten off to a great start, with Juventus currently sitting in seventh place in the Italian top flight. Their current winless run has stretched to five matches in all competitions so far, and a failure to beat Bologna on Sunday would surely increase the pressure on head coach Massimiliano Allegri.
Di Maria, who has so far scored one goal and produced one assist in five matches for Juventus, won’t be able to help his team against Thiago Motta’s side, having earned a straight red card in the shocking 1-0 defeat away to Monza ahead of the international break.
