Bologna striker Marco Di Vaio has confirmed reports that he is set to join Montreal Impact at the end of the season.
The veteran striker has enjoyed a lot of success at Renato Dall’Ara over the last four years, but the time has come for the forward to leave the Serie A side.
The 35-year-old has confirmed that he will leave Bologna after the end of the league campaign.
“The final two games of the campaign will be my last ones in the Bologna shirt,” Di Vaio said at a press conference on Friday afternoon.
“I don’t want to feel like a weight to the club and the fans. I’ve had four great years here in this city and in this shirt.”
Few weeks ago reports appeared linking Di Vaio with a summer move to the MLS and the player has now revealed he is on the verge of joining Montreal Impact.
“However, I’ve received a really interesting proposal from Montreal.”
The Canadian club are part of the Major League Soccer championship and already boast former Serie A stars Matteo Ferari and Bernardo Corradi.
Di Vaio has spent last four season at Bologna and scored 65 goals in 141 Serie A games.
