Diaby in line for new Arsenal deal

The Express understands that Arsene Wenger has admitted that Abou Diaby could be offered a new deal that would see him remain at the Emirates Stadium beyond the current season.

The midfielder, whose current contract is set to expire in the summer, has failed to make a single league appearance this season with his only game time coming in League Cup third round defeat to Southampton, where he was substituted after sixty-seven minutes.

Since arriving at Arsenal in January 2006, Diaby has played for the club one hundred and eighty times in all competitions, scoring nineteen goals.

Internationally, he has been capped sixteen times for France, with his last appearances coming in a 1-0 World Cup qualifying win over Finland back in September 2012.

The Gunners host Liverpool this weekend, and can be backed at 5/6 to get the victory that would see them move to within four points of leaders Chelsea.
