Next month, Gareth Bale’s tenure with Real Madrid will finally come to an end as he makes the move stateside to join Los Angeles Football Club on a free transfer. It’s a move that many were surprised by, and today, we’re going to pick through whether or not it was the right choice.

Quality of opposition

As he prepares to turn 33, you’d have to imagine Gareth Bale would’ve made a choice by now regarding the quality of opposition he wants. to play against – and it’s not exactly a shock to hear that Major League Soccer won’t give him what Europe’s top leagues would. He’ll probably run the show which, in many ways, can be seen as a good and bad thing.

Visibility

America’s top tier isn’t exactly the most popular of the sports over there but the good thing for Gareth Bale is that many will tune in to see how he’s getting on. His presence alone will help give the league a whole new level of visibility and when you combine it with the first point, we’d say it could do wonders for his confidence.

Staying fit

He’s going to break into the starting XI with relative ease and without too much resistance from the opposition, in comparison to Europe at least, we’d say he’ll be fit and around for the World Cup. The regular season ends on October 9 and a potential MLS Cup final appearance would be on November 5, giving him plenty of time to recover.

Conclusion: Yes, Gareth Bale made a pretty wise decision both financially and logistically.
