The celebrated Ivory Coast international and Chelsea legend Didier Drogba is not ready to call it a day and has reportedly decided join the USL side Phoenix Rising, according to France Football.
The 39-year-old striker has reportedly signed a deal with the United Soccer League club and will compete in the second-tier league together with the likes of former Chelsea forward Shaun Wright-Phillips and former Mexico striker Omar Bravo.
Didier Drogba’s move to Phoenix Rising has been mooted for quite some time and the Blues legend is said to have agreed on a three-year deal which will see him spend a year on the pitch and the other two as a sporting director for the US club.
The acquisition of renowned name such as Didier Drogba will be a boost to the club’s reputation and an important step forward both for Phoenix Rising and the USL itself.
Major League Soccer will add a new franchise in the next decade and Phoenix Rising are hoping to push themselves into the top tier.
