Portuguese daily O Jogo has learned that Malaga have joined the race for Sporting Lisbon winger Diego Capel.
Considering the club’s difficult financial situation and the fact the Spaniard is one of the highest earners at the club, everything suggests he will be leaving Estadio Jose Alvalade in the summer.
Liverpool and Marseille have been keeping close tabs on the highly rated footballer, but it appears Malaga are in the chase as well.
According to O Jogo, los Boquerones have submitted a €3 million bid for Capel, but the proposal was deemed insufficient by the club chiefs.
Even so, it appears it is only a matter of time before the Spaniard will leave the Lions for greener pastures.
Diego Capel, who came through the youth ranks at Sevilla, joined Sporting in a cut-price deal in the summer of 2011, and has since largely impressed in Portuguese Primeira Liga, scoring 9 goals in 52 league matches.
