Diego González has made his move from one La Liga team to another leaving Sevilla and transferring over to Málaga for a fee of €2 million, Estadio Deportivo reports.
The 22-year-old centre back has worked out a four-year deal with Málaga after a great season with Sevilla’s reserve team and with spectacular work done with the U-21 Spanish side that finished runners up in the U21 Euro tournament. However, Sevilla has a clause where they can buy back González at any point during the next three years.
Since joining Sevilla in 2015, González has bounced around between the senior club and the reserve side, which plays in the Spanish Second Division. He has made only five appearances in two years with the senior squad in contrast to the 72 appearances he has made with Sevilla’s reserve side.
González now joins a Málaga squad that is determined to do better than their middle table finish last year in which they gave up 55 goals, and los malagueños hope the young Spanish defenceman will be able to decrease their goals allowed.
