Unsettled Wolfsburg midfielder Diego will travel with the rest of the team as they embark on a series of pre-season friendlies on a tour of China.
The 27-year-old, who returned to the Volkswagen Arena after a season-long loan with Atletico Madrid, has endured several public fall-outs with coach Felix Magath over the German’s training methods.
The Brazilian has been widely linked with a permanent move away from the club after he failed to secure a switch to the Vicente Calderon, but seems likely to remain the club for foreseeable future.
“We’re going on this trip to play, not just to sit on a plane or a train,” Magath told Bild.
A notable absentee from the team roster however is Simon Kjaer. The Danish international has also reportedly had several heated debates with Magath, and spent last season on loan at Roma.
Wolfsburg kick off their list of friendlies against fellow Bundesliga side Bayern Munich, before taking on Changchun Yatai FC and Didier Drogba’s Shanghai Shenhua.
