Udinese coach Francesco Guidolin said Atletico Madrid’s Diego is the man to stop in their Europa League Group I clash on Thursday.
Matters are finely balanced for the Spanish and Italian clubs in the standings as they have four points each from two games.
Guidolin hopes his men can pull away as sole leaders in the group, but warned Atletico and Diego pose a major threat to European aspirations in the north of Italy.
“Do I fear Diego? Diego has great class and he can do plenty of damage if the opposition allow him to play,” Guidolin said.
“We will have to stop him from getting onto the ball as much as possible.”
“Atletico Madrid are an excellent team and they have a good balance in their squad with plenty of great players.”
However, Guidolin hopes the side he fields counters the Spanish threat head on.
“I will play my best team as Atletico Madrid are the strongest team in our group,” he said.
