(GSM) – Diego has dismissed rumours linking him with a move away from Juventus. The Brazilian midfielder wants to prove himself after a disappointing first season at the Bianconeri.

The 25-year-old playmaker has been at the centre of transfer speculation this summer, with Juve reportedly offering his services to Atletico Madrid and Wolfsburg.

However, the former Werder Bremen midfielder is keen to show his true qualities to the fans of Juventus in the season ahead.

“I want to stay at Juve and this is clear,” the Brazilian told Sky Sport 24.

“If I am here it means the team feels the same. Before going on holiday I spoke to Giuseppe Marotta and the new Coach – it is all sorted, I am not moving.

“These rumours kind of bother me because I don’t like when people lie.

“One year ago I picked Juve and I won’t give in after only 12 months. This team is one of the best in the world, I am happy to be here and I hope we will improve.”

In the meantime, new Juve boss Luigi Del Neri has spoken about how he views Diego’s role in this team.

“Diego is a shadow striker and this position is not new to him,” said Del Neri.

“Last year when my Sampdoria played in Turin he played in that position just behind Amauri and with Sebastian Giovinco and Mauro Camoranesi on the wings.
