Liverpool began their pre-season matches with a friendly 4-2 win over Karlsruher on Wednesday. Darwin Nunez broke the deadlock early, but the Merseysiders saw their lead turned around by the German side, courtesy of Lars Stindl and Sebastian Jung.
Cody Gakpo equalized for Liverpool, and then, after the 90 minutes had already gone, Diogo Jota struck twice in quick succession.
From Liverpool’s point of view, the match was overshadowed by the reports that broke just before kick-off, claiming the club had agreed to sell captain Jordan Henderson to Al-Ettifaq for £12 million.
