El Hadji Diouf has become the latest addition to the Sunderland squad after joining the north-east club from Premier League rivals Bolton Wanderers for an undisclosed fee on Monday.
Senegal international Diouf, 27, arrives at the Stadium of Light on a four-year deal after four seasons with Bolton.
Diouf is Sunderland manager Roy Keane’s fifth signing of the close season following Pascal Chimbonda, Teemu Tainio, Nick Colgan and David Meyler.
“El-Hadji is a great signing for us and we’re thrilled to get him,” Keane told Sunderland’s official website.
“He has bags of Premier League and international experience, which is exactly what we’ve been targeting this summer.”
Keane added: “Our coach, Ricky Sbragia, has also worked very closely with him and speaks extremely highly of him, so we’re looking forward to working with El-Hadji.”
