Every Thursday, Soccerway launches a new discussion based on the most important football topics at that moment. This week: Is the English league really the best in Europe, or maybe even in the world?
Chelsea and Manchester United are responsible for what will be the first ever All-English Champions League final, and three English teams participated in the semi finals.
In fact, the four English participants all reached least the quarter finals, only to be knocked out by each other. No English team has been eliminated by a non-English team this season.
Spain and Italy, with whom England usually compete for the final victory in the Champions League, have only been able to watch from the sidelines with only FC Barcelona capable of at least forming a threat.
But is the Champions League really the way to measure the level of entire leagues, since only the top teams participate?
Is the best league even really European, or would Argentina or Brazil be in the top spot if you could decide?
