Midfielder Lassana Diarra says a transfer to Roma is in his sights after insisting he does not wish to warm the bench at Real Madrid.
The 26-year-old has become a peripheral figure under Madrid coach Jose Mourinho, who has brought in midfield additions of his own since arriving at the Bernabeu in 2010.
The former Chelsea and Arsenal man has now suggested that Luis Enrique’s Serie A side could be his next port of call.
“There’s too much competition here [at Real Madrid]. I do not want to stay on the bench any longer,” said Diarra.
“I am sure that my contribution could be important,” he continued. “A project like Roma’s would be perfect and then I want go to the Euros [with France].”
Roma entertain Lecce in Serie A on Sunday, while Real Madrid visit Valencia in La Liga on Saturday.
