The agent of Arsenal defender Johan Djourou has explained that his client is looking to leave the Emirates this summer.
The Swiss defender has been on the fringes at the Emirates for a couple of years now and he is no longer ready to wait for his chance.
Djourou wants to leave in spite of signing a new contract with the club in February that saw him extend his deal until June 2015.
The player’s representative has now explained that Italian Serie A could be the next destination for his client.
“If he (Djourou) leaves the Premier League, he will play in Italy or Spain,” agent Flavio Ferraria was quoted as saying in Daily Star.
“I saw my client the other day and he was enthustiatic about both Napoli and Italy in general.
“So far, we have received an offer worth £10m. He wants to play for one of the top five Italian clubs”.
The Swiss defender joined Arsenal from Etoile Carouge in 2002 and he was handed a first team debut in October 2004.
Despite being touted as one of the hottest prospects in world football, Djourou never quite managed to realize his full potential and has amassed just 86 Premier League appearances for the Gunners over the period of eight years.
